Jan Thompson
JanThompson is a trained teacher who has specialised in Art and Design, graduating with First Class honours from The University of Wales in Caerleon.
Her enjoyment of art and experimentation is embodied in her use of different media from sculpture in various media, to batik and the use of acrylics.
She has travelled widely, including living in the USA for several years and this is the inspiration for her work, which is based on observation of the environment and colour.
Her pieces are imaginative, original and contemporary, inspired originally by nature and her latest direction “Primary Moves” was initiated during a recent spell in the USA.
Besides her exhibited work, she has also worked with children in many of our local schools to produce striking and evocative murals. She believes in empowering children to change their environment – encouraging them to make it their own and through that to take more care for it.
