Tina Holley
Tina Holley is a full time , professional artist, presently based in N.Wales.
Facing, or rather squinting sideways at an uneasy middle age, Tina discovered that despite warnings, long ago, of art mistresses whose advice was ‘stick to Latin’ and ‘forget art, it’s not for you’ - she REALLY enjoyed painting, and not only that, other people enjoyed her paintings too. Within two months of first picking up her brush, Tina sold her first painting and that set in motion a chain of events that have led to her watercolours hanging in collections in Australia, America and Europe as well as in private collections and galleries in Wales and the UK.
Commissions have sent her around the UK and to Andalucia, Spain. In 2004 Tina was notified that she had been selected for an arts residency in Colorado, USA, in the Rocky Mountains in June 2004, one of only five residencies selected and Tina being the only non-American.
In March 2004 she established a new permanent studio at Bodnant Gardens, the National Trust Garden in the Conwy Valley, North Wales, which has been a huge success. She has been joined there by her husband Frank Booth, who has based his framing workshop at the Gardens also. Projects have included commissions for the National Trust Snowdonia Marathon prizes and a 12’ x 5’ mural in acrylics for the RSPB at Tilhill Visitor Centre. Most recently, Tina has completed a large commission of all the rooftops of Llandudno, for a private collector.
Tina has just returned from a trip to New Mexico viewing potential galleries and has recently been approached by galleries in Whitby and Ireland.
As a result, as far as Tina is concerned, she is very grateful she didn’t heed the advice of her school art mistress!
